Sometimes, weather can have a drastic impact on our homes and lives. We have talked a lot about all the rain we have had here in the Abilene area over the past few months. Specifically, we talked about making sure that you give the rain somewhere to run when it rains, to make sure you give your yard time to dry out from the rain and to make sure you replenish the nutrients in your yard or garden that was washed away by rain. Today, we wanted to talk about another impact of the weather: tree damage. Mankin Tree Service is a sister company to Mankin and Sons Gardens. They have been very busy with broken branches and fallen trees due to the weather. To let you know a little more about what they do, we wanted to ask one of their customers about their experience having a tree removed.

Q: What happened at your property:

A: We had this huge tree directly in front of our house, which had been there since the house was built probably. One night, during one of the rain storms we have had we heard this large crash. After we checked a few different places, we looked out the front door and realized that the large tree had fallen directly sideways and was blocking the front door.

Q: Do you know why the tree fell:

A: That was what was so strange at first. The wind was not blowing that had and we don’t think lightning struck, it was just raining really hard. We really don’t know what happened for sure.

Q: What was the process like to have that removed:

A: Just talking about the Mankin side, it was very straightforward. We have been using Mankin for years both in landscape design and lawn service. So we are very comfortable working with their team. We gave them a call and Weldon came out very quickly to look at the situation. The first thing he did was to make sure he didn’t feel it was going to move too much going forward. He then told us he would have his team out ASAP to help us get our front yard back. Then next dry day we had, Weldon and team were there in the morning and worked very hard to help us out. The process could not have been easier, working with Mankin.

Q: Would you work with Mankin again after this experience:

A: Absolutely, Weldon and his team were very easy to work with and they talked us through each step in the process. They showed up on time and worked hard to help us get on with the process. Hopefully, we don’t have another tree fall, but if we did, we would absolutely us Mankin again.
