Your lawn preparation should start to begin in earnest. Believe it or not it is getting to be that time of year. The weather is getting warmer and the sun is shinning more often. That means it is almost time to plant fresh gardens and flowers for the coming spring and summer. However, lets not forget about the most important part of your curb appeal: your lawn. We wanted to take a few minutes to give you a couple of tips to get your lawn ready to look its’ best.
Get some Ferti-lome
We have a huge selection of different products that can help you grow a beautiful lawn, but the first thing you need to do is to get rid of the weeds that grew up during the winter. The best product we have for this process is made by a company named Ferti-lome and we suggest that you use one of a couple of different products. The first product we would want to talk about is the Weed Out product. This spray helps get rid of 200 different broadleaf weeds, such as Dandelions. The second product we would recommend is Crabgrass Preventer. This will help curtail the growth of crabgrass as we enter the summer and fall months.
Lawn Primer
Before you begin water and mowing your lawn just the way you like it, you need to put a primer down. Primer, or fertilizer, gives your lawn the nutrients it needs to grow. Fertilizer also allows your lawn grow uniformly and that consistency help make you lawn look great. Also, ask us about our selection of pre-emergence. This product sits and the topsoil and assists in stopping weeds to grow up and impede your lawn growth.
Start Watering
While your lawn may be brown and look dead, it is time to start watering now. Your lawn is starting to grow underground and it needs to be watered. Also, the watering helps the fertilizer do its job as best it can. HOWEVER, in Abilene please pay attention to the watering schedule. At the time of this post, Abilene is in Level 1 water restriction. This allows for watering your lawn one day a week. This still allows you to grow a thick and beautiful lawn you will love.
Every lawn is different and not everything will work perfectly on every lawn. That is why we suggest coming down and visiting with us about what is right for your lawn. Since the day we opened we have been committed to making your lawn look the very best it could.
